Karol Ann Cain (66) passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, August 30, 2020. Her devoted and beloved children were by her side.
Karol was an authority on dementia and elder care, traveling abroad and advising families, local governments, and the State of Michigan on these important issues.
Karol is preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband of more than 40 years, Ken; as well as her inspirational parents, Donald and Lucille Kott; brother, Stephan Kott; and mother-in-law, Marilyn Cain.
She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Halligan of Detroit, her son Bryan (Colby) Cain of Gloucester, MA, and father-in-law, Donald Cain of Alpena.
Visitation will take place at the Bannan Funeral Home on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12 noon with Rev. Scott Lawler officiating. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at a later date.
Interment: Holy Cross Cemetery
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Caring Place Adult Day Center in Alpena, MI. The Caring Place is a resource to those affected by dementia in the Alpena area and was initially developed and operated by Karol for more than 20-years.
