James Michael Shilts

1941 - 2021


James Michael Shilts, 80, of Alpena passed away Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at MidMichigan Medical Center-Alpena.

James was born on February 28, 1941 in Cheboygan, Michigan to the late Barney and Elizabeth (Fillion) Shilts. He served in the United States Army.

Surviving are Sharon’s children, Julie Broad, Greg Nelson; grandson, Brandon Srebnik; great grandsons, Gavin, Tristen; nieces and nephews, Donna & Karl Gruschke, Teri Downey, Lori Shilts, Brian Shilts,Tam Mason; great nieces and nephews, Parker, Kerrigan, Michayla, Shannon; great-great nephew and niece, Landen, McKenna; and sister-in-law, Judy Shilts.

Mr. Shilts was preceded in death by the love of his life, Sharon Nelson; two sisters, DonaLee Shilts, Marilyn Gruschke; brother, Barney Shilts, Jr.; and brother-in-law, Donald Gruschke.

A private graveside service will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery. Arrangements have been handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.

Godspeed, and give some of your Grand Hugs to our Beloved Departed for me❤... I am still quite speechless and always will be because I loved you very much...and so did my clan down south.🙏 We cherished our visits in Alpena and when you road-tripped down to South Bend with Dad😁...    And so until we meet again, Frick says "See ya later"...Uncle Jim is one of the  few greatest men I have ever known!
