James Everett Owens, 93, of Alpena passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at MidMichigan Medical Center – Alpena.
James was born in Livingston County, Illinois on October 21, 1927 to the late Estle and Ima (Grider) Owens. He graduated from Chenoa Community High School in 1946. Jim served in the United States Army from 1951 until his honorable discharge in 1953. He married the former Inez Agnes Kindt on August 6, 1953. She preceded him in death on June 25, 2002. As James pursued his sales career, he and Inez lived in four states and he assumed sales responsibility for many other states. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church – Alpena. Jim enjoyed hunting and visiting with family and friends.
Surviving are his three nieces, Estelle (Larry) Korelc, Denise (David) Papesh, Robin Henning and her son Charles; sister-in-law, Arlene (Ray) Lay; brother-in-law, William (Joanne) Kindt; 8 nephews and 5 nieces by marriage.
He was preceded in death by an older brother, Charles and by niece, Patricia Rhoades.
Cremation arrangements have been handled by the Bannan Funeral Home. A memorial service will take place in the spring.
