Yvonne Diane Eyk, 62, lost her battle with lung cancer at home on April 21, 2021.
Yvonne Diane Polluch was born on December 24, 1958 in Alpena, MI to Izzy and Jeanne (Kuznicki) Polluch, their first of four children. She was very active in FFA riding and showing her horses as a teenager and studied cosmetology while attending Alpena High graduating in 1977. She moved to Colorado in 1982 and while working at a high tech company, she met James Eyk. They made their home in Longmont, Colorado and were married June 11, 1988.
Yvonne left the volatility of high tech to work for the Boulder County Sheriff Dept. Jail Division in 1989. There, she continued with her studies in Spanish and Sign Language. She advanced from receptionist to Booking Officer, but a knee injury changed her career path to Law Enforcement Technician (LET), LET supervisor and further to division Administrative Secretary/Supervisor. She retired in 2009 after surviving a stroke. She worked tirelessly to recover from her speech and physical disabilities. She enjoyed and continued speech therapy, got back into riding horses with Colorado Therapeutic Riding Center and started trike riding with Spokes Fighting Strokes.
Yvonne loved spending time with friends and family, her dogs, gardening, crafts, camping, watching the Colorado Avalanche and life. Everyone who knew this special lady loved her strength, smile, giggle, charm and were fortunate to have her in their life.
Surviving are her husband Jim; mother, Jeanne; sister-in-law, Sandy Eyk (Shelly Eitinear); sister-in-law, Lace Polluch; niece, Jaime Polluch; nephew, Shawn Polluch; several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Yvonne was preceded in death by her father, Isidore; brothers, Steven, James, and Michael.
