William “Billy O” John Ozanich, 72, of Alpena passed away Thursday, June 24, 2021, at home.
William was born on November 10, 1948, in Manistique, Michigan to the late John and Lorraine (Barker) Ozanich. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with Three Bronze Service Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device, Army Commendation Medal with V Device, Combat Infantryman Badge; Bronze Star Medal with V Device and First Oak Leaf Cluster. William was a lifetime member of the Manistique V.F.W. Post 4420. Retired from Operating Engineers Local 324 after 40 years if service, On April 14, 2009, he married Lisa Mulka.
Surviving are his wife, Lisa; son, Jon (Tracy) Hurford; three grandchildren, Lyndsy (Dan) McKenna, Joe Hurford, Claire (David) Schell; stepmother, Dorothy Ozanich; three stepchildren, Nicole Misiak, Kelly (Kevin) Diemond, Laurie Kensler; step grandson, Brad Crevier; siblings, Paul (Betty) Ozanich, Christine (Ed) Deloria, Ann (Bill) Werner; step-siblings, Sue (Al) Snellenberger, Peter (Mary) Thelander, JoAnne (Doug) Potvin, Charlie (Lael) Thelander; several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Ozanich was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Ozanich; and sister, Dolores Prudem.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, July 31, 2021, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church with Rev. Benedetto J. J. Paris officiating. Military honors will be accorded him at the Manistique V.F.W. Post 4420 at 1 p.m. with a reception following. Cremation arrangements have been handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.
