Wayne Leonard Helinski, 82, of Alpena passed away Saturday, February 12, 2022, at Davison Care Home following a short illness.
Wayne was born in Alpena to the late Leonard and Blanche (Ouellette) Helinski on December 13, 1939. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. For the majority of his career with General Telephone he lived in Spring Lake, Michigan, retiring in 1993 returning to Alpena to help care for his aging mother. Wayne was a member of All Saints Parish, where he led the group responsible for church decorations throughout the liturgical seasons for many years. He was a certified Master Gardener, where he helped plan, plant, and maintain the garden areas on the parish property. Besides gardening he enjoyed music and electronics. He was a thoughtful and caring son and brother.
Surviving are his 2 brothers, Robert (Jane) Helinski, David Helinski; nieces and nephews, Margaret (Steve) Podschwit, Glenn Helinski, Kathryn Helinski; great nephews, Nicholas, Vincent, and Dominic.
Visitation will take place at the St. Anne Church of All Saints Parish on Friday, February 18, 2022, from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. with Rev. Michael Lingaur officiating. Arrangements are being handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.
Interment: Holy Cross Cemetery
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to All Saints Parish or Hospice of Michigan.
