Verna Mace

Verna Louise (Wilds) Mace, 71, of Alpena, went to be with our Lord on March 22, 2020.

She was born on January 12, 1949 in Alpena to the late Roy & Katherine (Cicero) Wilds and resided in Hawks until the family moved to Ossineke in 1954.  She graduated from Alpena High School in 1967 and attended Alpena Community College.  She worked for Besser Co., Graphic Controls/Fletcher Paper Co.  She was a member of the Ossineke Eagles, and Alpena Moose Lodge.  After retiring, she enjoyed games and potlucks with her many friends at her apartment complex. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Alpena.

She is survived by her daughter, Holly Mace; her brother Robert (Debbie) Wilds; nieces Angela (Preston) King, Carla Wilds; nephew, Bill (Stephanie) Wilds; and 5 great nieces and nephews, and her special friend Clyde Rand.

Memorial visitation will take place on Thursday at Immanuel Lutheran Church from 10 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 11 a.m. with Rev. James Erickson officiating.  She has been taken for cremation by Bannan Funeral home.  (Social distancing protocol will be followed.)
