Theresa Stoppa

Theresa Helen Stoppa, 96, of Alpena passed away Friday, November 19, 2021, at Turning Brook.

Theresa Helen Diemond was born on November 25, 1924, in Alpena to the late Robert and Florence (Kindt) Diemond. Theresa worked at WBKB TV for 18 years in the accounting office. On July 22, 1976, she married Eugene “Chick” Stoppa. He preceded her in death on September 4, 2002. She was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church – Alpena and taught Sunday School. Theresa was past president and member of Zonta, Northeast Michigan Economic Club, Faith and Hope Hospitality House, and T.O.P.S.

Surviving are her four children, Charles (Marylynn) Morton, Patty (Richard) Wenzel, Grace (Wesley Jr.) Schooley, Karen Morton; eight grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; sister, Rosalie Turske; and sister-in-law, Veronica Diemond.

Mrs. Stoppa was preceded in death by brothers, Joseph Diemond and Richard Diemond.

Visitation will take place Monday, November 29, 2021, from 4-8 p.m. at Bannan Funeral Home and continue Tuesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church – Alpena from 10 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 a.m. with Rev. John Shipman officiating.

Interment:  Evergreen Cemetery

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church – Alpena.
