Roxanne Marie Foor

October 13, 1958 — December 3, 2022

Lachine

Roxanne Marie Foor passed away December 3, 2022, at the age of 64 surrounded by her loving family.

Roxanne Marie Desermeau was born on October 13, 1958, to James and Marsha (Dickinson) Desermeau. Roxanne met our father in her hometown of Lachine, Mi where they would eventually get married in July of 1981. After attending college, she would then start working for Dow chemical as a chemist. After leaving that position, she took a position at a paper mill in Pennsylvania which would eventually lead her to Fletchers Paper Company in Alpena, MI where she moved permanently together with her husband Dennis and two children, Janice and Christopher. She worked her way up the ladder of the company but always had time for “bring your daughter to work day.” Roxanne worked there for many years until eventually the paper mill closed. Being the go-getter that she is, she went back to school to work in the medical field. Not wanting the long days and night call-ins again, she opted to study to become a medical assistant. After working with a local doctor for a while she obtained a position at the MyMichigan Medical Center – Alpena’s Cancer Center where she continued to work for 17 years. There she quickly learned the ins and outs of caring for cancer patients so that she could help the best she could. She would always be a welcoming face for the patients that walked in the doors as well as a dedicated advocate for every patient that she was helping care for. Roxanne was more than just her work. She was also a devoted mother and wife who would always be her children’s shoulder to cry on or an ear to listen. Always supporting her children’s curiosity and questions about people and the world we live in as we tried to navigate life and come up with our own thoughts and ideas. She cared deeply for people, even those others may have deemed unworthy of such kindness. When it came to fighting for what was right, Roxanne was a force to be reckoned with. She absolutely loved being in her vegetable garden every year, growing and canning enough food to feed her family. The most recent joy of her life was the birth of her first grandchild Harper Marie who she absolutely loved dearly. Roxanne would eventually become “Nana” to the granddaughter that adored her. Anyone who has had the pleasure of knowing our mother; know that she made the world a better place with her presence.

Surviving are her husband, Dennis; 2 children, Janice (Joe), Christopher Foor; granddaughter, Harper; her mother, Marsha Desermeau; 4 siblings, Henry (Donna) Desermeau, Debra (Pat) Gerow, Velvet (Mike) Balwinski; Daniel (Carol) Desermeau; many nieces and nephews.

Roxanne was preceded in death by her father James Desermeau and infant sister Jeanne Demerise Desermeau.

Our family would like to say thank you to the wonderful Hospice of Michigan association. Every single person that either came to our home or spoke to us on the phone were not only very helpful but very compassionate. We would not have been able to get through this time without your help.

Per Roxanne’s wishes cremation has taken place and no services will be held.  Arrangements have been handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.

We ask that you please consider a memorial donation in Roxanne’s name to Hospice of Michigan
