Pastor David George Herbert

Pastor David George Herbert, 88, of Imlay City passed away Thursday, March 17, 2022, in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

David was born August 12, 1933, in Hazel Park, Michigan to the late George and Edith (Slater) Herbert. He served in the United States Army from 1953-1955 during the Korean War. On June 13, 1953, he married Lois VanderPloeg, they were married for 42 years. She preceded him in death on April 10, 1995. Later, he married Evelyn Deseranno, they were married for 22 years. She preceded him in death on June 6, 2019.

In 1968, he started serving as the Pastor of Hillman Baptist Church and served as pastor in the area for over 30 years. Along with his wife, Lois, he was the founder of the Hillman Christian Academy and was a member of the Davison Community Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, dad, grandfather, and great grandfather.

Surviving are his three children Cynthia (Dean) Mileto, David (Lisa) Herbert, Patricia (Timothy) Wheaton; 17 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; two brothers, Donald (June) Herbert and Ronald (Faith) Herbert.

Pastor Herbert was preceded in death by his son, Randy Herbert; sisters, Elaine Babcock, Hazel Zuhlke; granddaughter, Ashley (Hunt) Boynton.

Visitation will take place Friday, March 25, 2022, at Bannan Funeral Home – Hillman from 12 pm until the time of the funeral service at 3 p.m. with Pastor Paul Fry officiating, followed by military honors accorded by the United States Army.  Streaming will be available at www.bannanfuneralhome.com
