Maydora Kunath

Maydora Jane Kunath, 90, of Alpena passed away Monday, February 22, 2021 at Medilodge of Green View.

Maydora Jane Beaubien was born in Ferndale, Michigan on December 27, 1930 to the late Richard and Mabel (Monette) Beaubien. She moved to Alpena in 1944 and met Norman Kunath at St. Bernard School and later married him on September 25, 1948.  He preceded her in death on April 22, 1991.  Maydora went to work at Kresge’s in 1962 and retired from Kmart as the office manager in 1995 after 33 years of service.  She was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, loved doing cross stitch, working puzzles and gardening.

Surviving are three children, John (Ann) Kunath, Judy (Timothy) St. John, Sue (Gary) Collins; 7 grandchildren, Eric Kunath, Heidi Kiss, Lisa Hahn, Robert N. Gibbons, Tom Gregg, Jr., Carrie McKelvey, Wesley Gregg; 11 great grandchildren, Hutch Gibbons, Hilary Burg, Hailey, Hannah, Kinsley Kunath, Sierra Cohen, Amber, Tommy Gregg, Jason, Blake, Brooklyn McKelvey; 2 great-great grandchildren, TJ, Ryleigh Cohen; brother, Earl Beaubien; two brothers-in-law, Roy Kunath, Louis Male; sister-in-law, Peggy Beaubien; several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Kunath was preceded in death by infant daughter, Cathy; great grandson, Gilly Gibbons, three sisters, Marion Osmer, Elaine Kunath, Phyllis Male; two brothers, Thomas Beaubien and Richard Beaubien.

Visitation will take place on Saturday at the Bannan Funeral Home from 11 a.m. until the time of the private funeral service at 1 p.m. with Rev. Scott Lawler officiating.  For those unable to attend the funeral, it will be livestreamed at www.bannanfuneralhome.com.

Interment: Holy Cross Cemetery
