Mary Margaret (DeCaire) Avery, 79 of Alpena passed away on January 2, 2021. Mary joins her husband Edward in heaven after being apart for the last two years.
Mary was born on November 28, 1941 to the late Henry and Margaret (Tebo) DeCaire. Mary survived polio from a very early age. She married the love of her life, Edward Avery, on January 28, 1961. He passed away May 14, 2018. Mary loved spending her time crocheting, knitting, and making crafts for her family and friends. She loved butterflies, hummingbirds, angels, and rarely missed an occasion to send a card. Mary was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Surviving are her children, Mark (Gail) Avery, Jeff (MaryBeth) Avery, Tammy (Rick) Klis, John (Evelyn) Avery; grandchildren, Megan, Chasity, Allison Avery, Bradley (Christin) Avery, Renee (Wally) Roznowski, Mary (David) Srebnik, Daniel (Rebecca) Avery, Sarah (Cody) Tebo, Julie (Kevin) Tran; and 10 great grandchildren. Mary is also survived by her in-laws, Bea Rhode, Gertrude (Martin) Schleben and Mable Avery; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Avery was preceded in death by six siblings, William DeCaire, George DeCaire, James DeCaire, Althea Mandock, Thelma Pena, and Kathryn Hansen.
Visitation will take place for the public on Thursday at Bannan Funeral Home from 2-8 p.m. with a private funeral service Friday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Joshua Schultz officiating. Livestreaming will be available for those unable to attend at www.bannanfuneralhome.com.
