Lucille V. Karsten, 91, of Alpena passed away Sunday, April 18, 2021 at home after an extended illness.
A lifelong resident of Alpena, Lucille was born on March 17, 1930 to the late Erhardt and Agatha (Schalk) Neumann. She married the love of her life, Robert W. Karsten, on October 18, 1952 at Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Lucille, or Tootie, as she was called by family and friends, loved fishing, mushroom hunting, and lake life. She also enjoyed the many gatherings and celebrations of family over the years. Even as a 30-year survivor of cancer, Lucille could make you laugh or at least put a smile on your face. Her greatest gift, however, was the love she gave to her family every day.
Surviving are her husband, Robert, of almost 69 years; a daughter Ruth (Thomas) Driscoll; two sons, Thomas (Beverly) Karsten and Paul (Teri) Karsten; three grandchildren, Katie, Zach and Cam; two sisters, Dorothy Brege and Mildred Canavan; also one brother, Howard Neumann; along with many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Karsten was preceded in death by her two brothers-in-law, Melvin Brege, William Canavan; and sister-in-law, Mary Neumann.
Visitation will take place Thursday at Immanuel Lutheran Church from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. with Rev. James Erickson officiating. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Bannan Funeral Home. Live streaming will be available at bannanfuneralhome.com.
Interment: Evergreen Cemetery
