Leroy Dove

Leroy George Dove, 87, of Alpena passed away Tuesday, November 5, 2019, at home.

Leroy was born on March 29, 1932, in Alpena. He served in the United States Air Force. On June 2, 1956, he married Marian Palmer. LeRoy worked at Besser Company for 28 years, retiring in 1994. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, enjoyed golfing, and playing cards.  LeRoy enjoyed spending time with family and friends and will be remembered by loved ones for his sense of humor and making others laugh.  Most important to him, was being a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Surviving are his wife, Marian; three children, Gregory (Cynthia) Dove, Darryl (Mara) Dove, Brenda (Doug) Mantia; 14 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and two sisters, Anna May Wirgau, Ethlene Lewis; cousins and favorite uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Dove was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy; and son, Jeffrey Dove.

Visitation will take place Friday at Bannan Funeral Home from 2-8 p.m. with military honors accorded him be Alpena V.F.W. Post 2496 at 5 p.m. Visitation will continue Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Alpena from noon until the funeral service at 1 p.m. with Rev. John Shipman officiating.
