Kenneth Sweazey

Kenneth Russell Sweazey, 88, of Alpena passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital.

Kenneth was born on August 10, 1931 in Dearborn, Michigan to the late Frank and Lena (Staples) Sweazey. He served in the United States Army 82nd Airborne during the Korean War. Ken worked for Riverside Storage in Detroit, retiring in 1988. On September 15, 1951, he married Mabel Jacobs. Ken was a member of Spratt United Methodist Church, enjoyed helping neighbors as “the local handyman”, and walking.

Surviving are his wife, Mabel; three children, Sharry Sweazey, Douglas (Cathy) Sweazey, Darlene Sweazey; and nephew, Craig (Emily) Toth.

Mr. Sweazey was preceded in death by his son, Michael Sweazey; and sister Irene Tracy.

Visitation will take place Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at Bannan Funeral Home from 2-6 p.m. with military honors accorded him at 5 p.m. by Alpena V.F.W. Post 2496. Visitation will continue Wednesday at Spratt United Methodist Church from 10 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 a.m. with Rev. Kenneth Ward officiating.
