Kenneth Theodore Liske, 79, of Hubbard Lake passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, March 23, 2022.
Kenneth was born April 24, 1942, in Detroit to the late Theodore and Esther (Kissau) Liske. He was raised on the family owned farm, Est. 1901, and attended Beaudoin School, a one-room schoolhouse that was a 1 ½ mile walk. Ken first learned to speak German and later English. He was a naturally gifted engineer working at Besser, Utica Machine, and Omni Metalcraft, designing automotive equipment and conveyors. On June 23, 1962, he married Carole Heinrich. He had a lifelong passion for farming and they took over the family dairy farm in 1976 with their children, Kevin, Kelli, and Kraig.
Ken had many hobbies including bowling, hunting, fishing, golf, and playing cards. He took an annual fishing trip to Klotz Lake, Ontario, Canada for many years. He looked forward to opening day of bass season every year. Ken, along with a group of men, formed the G.O.D. Golf League at Alpena Golf Course that is still running today. He also helped form the County Mixed Bowling League. Ken was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church-Hubbard Lake and served as past treasurer and trustee.
One of the many things his children will remember him by was his strong work ethic and saying “put it back where you found it”, “don’t do it half ass”, “if you’re going to do something do it right”, “make sure to get all the tallow off!” (while cutting up venison on the dining room table). Ken will be greatly missed on the water, in the woods, and golf course. He was affectionately known as dear, dad, pa, papa, and grandpa.
Surviving are his wife, Carole; three children, Kevin (Kim) Liske, Kelli Liske, Kraig (Corey) Liske; seven grandchildren, Shane Bullard, Tori (Kent) Zuker, Tara Liske, Kristin Liske, Carly Liske, Kaden Liske, Kolin Liske; “adopted” grandchildren, Tara & Heather Brilinski; siblings, Carol (Gail McGregor) Bellmore, Sandra (Larry) Garant, Betty Luty; brother-in-law, Gary Bandrow; sister-in-law, Linda Schaudt; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
