Kathleen Lindahl Dempsey, 76, of Presque Isle passed away unexpectedly Monday, August 26, 2019 at MidMichigan Medical Center – Alpena of an apparent heart attack.

Kathleen Lois Wright was born in Evanston, IL to the late Raymond and Lois (McCallum) Wright.  Kathy returned to college to complete her education after the age of 40 and received both her Bachelor of Science and Master’s degree from Arizona State University.  She worked as a social worker and therapist,  retiring from Community Mental Health in 2009.  She was a foster parent to 65 children over 20 years.  Kathy enjoyed cooking, was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling.  On January 4, 1992, she married William Dempsey.  Kathy was an active member of First Congregational United Church of Christ, where she was a current member of the Board of Directors,  chairperson of the Mission Committee, sang in the church choir and volunteered for MMMC – Alpena Auxiliary.

She is survived by her husband, Bill; 3 children, Laura (John) Sullivan, Christopher (Terri) Lindahl, Andrew (Maria) Lindahl; 5 grandchildren, Andrew Sullivan, Daniel Sullivan, Jeffrey Lindahl, Leanne Lindahl, Olivia Lindahl; and 3 nieces.

Kathy was preceded in death by her brother, Jeffrey Wright.

Memorial visitation will take place on Saturday at First Congregational United Church of Christ from 11 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 1 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Robert Case officiating.
