Karen Herron

Karen Margaret Herron, 82, of Lachine passed away Saturday, May 1, 2021 at MidMichigan Medical Center.

Karen Margaret McMillan was born in Alpena County on January 2, 1939 to Neil and Dorothy (VanSipe) McMillan and married Glen Herron on October 18, 1957.  Together they owned and operated Glen Herron Berry Farm.  Karen was an active member of the Spratt United Methodist Church, enjoyed bowling, playing cards, cooking and baking, playing Bingo and will be remembered for her continuous cleaning of everything.  She loved her dogs, Daise and Grit.

Surviving are her husband, Glen (who she wrote a “love note” to in the kindergarten class); 3 grandchildren, Ethan Durecki, Paige Durecki, Olivia Herron; son-in-law, Steve Durecki; daughter-in-law, Jodie Herron; brother, Jim (Anna) McMillan; sister, Shirley Brandt; several nieces and nephews, including Doug (Karen) Haenlen.

Mrs. Herron was preceded in death by daughter, Valerie Durecki (2012); son, Dean Herron (2017); brother, Bill McMillan; sisters Ruth Tobias, and Katie Filipiak.

Visitation will take place at the Bannan Funeral Home on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the time of the private funeral service at 1 p.m. with Rev. Duane Lindsey officiating.

Interment: Spratt Cemetery

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
