Joyce A. Murphy, age 83, was wrapped in the arms of our Lord and called home on Monday, January 4, 2021. She was born on November 8, 1937 to the late Lloyd and Frances Skiba in Alpena and graduated from Catholic Central in 1955. On June 28, 1958, she married Thomas Murphy Jr. and together they had seven children. He preceded her in death on May 18, 2000.
Joyce was an honorary member of the Aid by the Dozen Group #2 and a member of All Saints Catholic Parish. She enjoyed time spent with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and the many hours of playing cards, especially “Kings in the Corners”.
Surviving are her children, Terence and friend Deb Barrow, Catherine, Carol Dihle, Thomas and wife Brenda, Jacqueline and husband Jon Benson, Martin; grandchildren, Shawn Murphy, Kiel Murphy, Stephanie Wilds, Jessica Murphy, Sarah Dihle, Katie Miller, Thomas Dihle, Alexandra Ochoa, Jacob Benson, Kerri Murphy-West; great grandchildren, Elizabeth Barnhill, Samantha and Nolan Wilds, Emerald Dihle, Bella and Joseph Miller, Thomas Dihle Jr., Samuel and Abigail Ochoa; and sister, Darlene Robarge.
Mrs. Murphy was preceded in death by her son, John; daughter-in-law, Mary Jo; brothers, Robert and Gary; and sister, June Wilson.
She will be greatly missed and we take great comfort in knowing she is with our Lord.
Visitation will take place Friday at Bannan Funeral Home from 2 p.m. until the private prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue Saturday at St. Anne Church of All Saints Parish from 10 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. with Rev. Joseph Muszkiewicz officiating. Livestreaming will be available for those unable to attend at www.bannanfuneralhome.com.
