John Henry Merrill

John Henry Merrill, 89, of Alpena passed away Sunday, July 16, 2023, at home.

John was born June 10, 1934, in Petoskey, Michigan to the late Willard and Ada (Clumb) Merrill. On January 24, 1953, he married Vivian Hankins. She preceded him in death on December 16, 2019. John owned and operated K & J Roofing, retiring in 1996. He was a member of Under His Wings Fellowship, Royal Rangers, and New Life Fellowship.

Surviving are his two sons, John (Leona) Merrill, Mark Merrill; daughter-in-law, Joy Merrill; 8 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.

John was preceded in death by his son, William Merrill; siblings, Wayne, Ruth, Helen, Edna, Mamie, William, Alvin, Robert, Carl, Lucille, and Albert.

Memorial visitation will take place Friday at Bannan Funeral Home from 10 a.m. until the memorial service at 12 noon with Pastor Gary Smith officiating.
