John Marchessault

John Sheehan Marchessault, 82, of Alpena passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2020 at Medilodge of Alpena.

John was born on June 10, 1937, in St. Albans, Vermont to the late Charles and Frances (Sheehan) Marchessault. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. On November 4, 1955, he married Judith Hewitt. John worked as a postmaster for the U.S. Post Office serving in Alpena from 1982 until his retirement in 1992. He was a member of the American Legion in Royal Oak, Alpena V.F.W., and Eagles. John enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing pool.

Surviving are his wife, Judy; five daughters, Kim (Ron) Jankowski, Julie (Paul) Frezza, Diane (Arthur) Keller, Lisa (Scott) LaFountain, Tammie Tamm; 16 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; four half siblings, Linda Corey, Karen Shammas, Liz (Roger) Bykowski, and Charles (Laurie) Marchessault.

Mr. Marchessault was preceded in death by his grandson, Garrett; and sister, Ann Marchessault.

A memorial service will take place later. Cremation arrangements by the Bannan Funeral Home.
