John (Jack) Tucker, age 87, of Alpena passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 27, 2022, at home.
On December 18, 1934, Jack was born in Alpena, Michigan to the late Elden and Frances (Jedrzajczak) Tucker. He married Patricia (Patti) Jerome on October 13, 1962, in Alpena. Jack served in the US Army until his honorable discharge in 1959. He retired from GTE as Fleet Supervisor for Northern Michigan and was a lifetime member of the Exchange Club of Alpena. Jack was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. He loved the outdoors, having recently sold his beloved hunting camp to purchase a cottage where he enjoyed working on new projects and his favorite pastime fishing.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Patti; their daughter, Leslie (Ray) Reynolds, of Alpena; two grandchildren, Ryan (Maggie DeMarse) Reynolds and Kathryn (Kyle Dushane) Reynolds; sister-in-law, LouAnn Jerome; and several nieces and nephews. Jack was preceded in death by his two sisters, Suzanne (Sue) Koss and Jane Baker.
Family and friends will gather for visitation at Bannan Funeral Home on Monday, October 31, 2022, from 2-8 p.m. with military honors accorded him at 5 p.m. by Alpena V.F.W. Post 2496. Visitation will continue Tuesday at Grace Lutheran Church on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, from 10 a.m. until the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Tom Orth officiating.
Interment: Holy Cross Cemetery
Memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
