Joann Violet Kuchnicki, 83 of Alpena passed away Friday, April 9, 2021 at MidMichigan Medical Center – Midland.
Joann Violet Smith was born in Detroit on March 9, 1938 to the late Morris and Beatrice (Thomas) Smith. She grew to become a giving and caring person in all parts of her life. She worked for many years as a nurse, retiring from Alpena General Hospital. On May 3, 1958, she married Robert Kuchnicki, and raised three daughters and one son. Robert preceded her in death on November 20, 2019. Together they would spend winters in Texas and enjoyed traveling. Joanne had a passion for crafts including sewing, knitting, and quilting. She made beautiful pieces for her entire family.
Surviving are two daughters, Susan (Thomas) Bustillos, Laurie Copping; 7 grandchildren, John Dziuba, Jessica Dziuba, Josh (Kari) Bustillos, Alison (Chase Werth) Nunez, Kelsie Copping, Katelyn (Robert) Berry, Brianna (Doug) Snow; and several great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Peggy Kuchnicki-Dziuba, son Brian Kuchnicki; son-in-law, Kim Copping and 4 brothers.
Visitation will take place at the Bannan Funeral Home on Thursday from 11 a.m. until the time of the private funeral service at 2 p.m. with Pastor Brad Matuzak officiating. For those unable, to attend the funeral will be streamed live at www.bannanfuneralhome.com.
