Joan Katherine Brousseau, 89, of Alpena passed away Friday, November 11, 2022, at MyMichigan Medical Center – Alpena.
Joan was born on October 4, 1933, in Maple Ridge Township to the late Edward and Gertrude (Melville) Brousseau. She graduated from St. Bernard High School in 1951 and graduated from Mount Carmel of Mercy Nursing School. Joan worked as a registered nurse for many years retiring from Alpena General Hospital in 1989 as the operating room supervisor. In her retirement years, she enjoyed traveling, cooking, gardening, and volunteer work. She was a past member of St. Bernard Altar Society.
Surviving are her sister, Mary Ann and several cousins. A special thanks to the Kennedy family, Phyllis Kuchnicki, Julie Specht, Vanessa Flewelling, and staff at MyMichigan Medical Center.
Joan was preceded in death by two sisters, Rose and Gertrude.
Visitation will take place at the Bannan Funeral Home on Tuesday from 3-7 with a parish prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will continue at St. Bernard Church of All Saints Parish on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. with Rev. Tyler Bischoff officiating.
Interment: Holy Cross Cemetery
