James Powell

James Walter Powell, 66, of Posen passed away Monday, July 27, 2020 at Medilodge of Rogers City.

James was born on June 4, 1954 in Alpena to Walter and Virginia (Oulette) Powell. On July 18, 1993, he married Peggy Oliver. Jim worked for the County of Alpena, Huron Portland Cement, Crittenden Construction as a millwright, construction with Randy Donajowski & Mark Skiba, and Tendercare of Rogers City in maintenance. He was a member of Alpena County Draft Horse Association, Pitchfork Rodeo, Ramblin Rods Car Club, and Alpena County Fair Board.

Jim raised Percheron Draft Horses and enjoyed many years of rodeo and farming. He loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing. The greatest of all, is the time he spent with his grandchildren, Kyle and Haley, and watching them grow.

Surviving are his wife, Peggy; two children, Sarah J. Teall, Wally Powell; grandchildren, Kyle Kensa, Haley Teall, Deagon Kandow; sisters, Linda (Larry) Kenjorski, and Beverly (Steve) Smolinski.

Cremation arrangements have been handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to McLaren Hospice.
