James MacConnell

James Mason MacConnell, age 68, a resident of Naperville, formerly of Glen Ellyn, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 12, 2020.  He was born June 19, 1951 in Alpena, Michigan to Lloyd and Norma MacConnell.

Jim graduated from Alpena High School and then attended Alpena Community College. After earning a Bachelor's Degree at Central Michigan University he went on to earn a Master's Degree at Michigan State University.  He met Mary Stewart through a singing group at Central Michigan University.  They were married on September 27, 1975.

He worked for several governmental agencies in northern Michigan, focused on local and regional economic development. In 1991, he moved to Glen Ellyn to work in a similar job for the Federal Government.  He retired in 2013.

He enjoyed working with technology and computers.  He also enjoyed researching genealogy and spent many hours in computer research.  His faith was an important part of his life and he was active in church life, including mission trips with the Wheaton Evangelical Free Church (now Compass Church).

He is survived by his wife, Mary, three children, Jason (Kate) MacConnell of Bolingbrook, Scott (Becky) MacConnell of Montgomery, and Amykate (Cameron) Cammarata of Milwaukee, WI, six grandchildren, Lincoln, Whitman, Bradley, Bennett, Aiden and Bridget, and two brothers, Kendall and Bruce MacConnell.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two siblings, David MacConnell and Barbara Perez.

Visitation will take place at the Long Rapids Congregational Church on Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2020 from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12 noon with Rev. Arnie Kirschner officiating.  Arrangements have been handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.

Interment: Long Rapids Cemetery
