James Howard Hemmerly, 79, of Bradenton, Florida and Alpena passed away Sunday, October 2, 2022, from a brain stem bleed in Saginaw, Michigan.
James was born January 20, 1943, in Alpena to Everett and Helen (Hampton) Hemmerly. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corp. James was a member of St. Bernard All Saints Parish, Marine Corp League, and American Legion.
Surviving are his wife, Debby; two children, Lisa (Wayne) Partridge, James (Judah) Hemmerly; four grandchildren, Ellis Partridge, Jessica (Kenny) Merchant, Eli Hemmerly, Tzedek Hemmerly, and numerous family and friends.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Johnny Cobb and father, Everett Hemmerly.
Memorial visitation will take place Sunday at Bannan Funeral Home from 2-5 p.m. with military honors accorded him at 4 p.m. by Alpena V.F.W. Post 2496 and a parish prayer service at 4:30 p.m. Memorial visitation will continue Monday at St. Bernard Church of All Saints Parish from 11 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 12 p.m. with Rev. Michael Lingaur officiating.
