James Byers

James Ralph Byers, 82, of Alpena passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at Medilodge of Alpena.

James was born on July 10, 1937 in Alpena to the late James and Flossie (Johnson) Byers. On June 8, 1968, he married Esther Hund. She preceded him in death on August 22, 2007. James enjoyed hunting and gardening.

Surviving are his two children, Mary Daleski, Kathy Prevo; four stepchildren, Maureen (Ray) Sowden, Colleen (Dru) Metiva, Shelly (Dale) Hall, Sherry (Mike) Crowell; 17 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; seven siblings, Marjorie McKenzie, Patricia Orban, Larry “Tony” (Margie) Byers, Ken (Mary) Byers, Bonnie (Paul) Black, William (Gayle) Byers, and Lori (Wayne) Gagnon.

Mr. Byers was preceded in death by his two brothers, Ronald Byers, Gerald Byers; stepdaughter, Kelly Keinath; and granddaughter, Shelley Dziesinski.

Cremation arrangements have been handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.
