James Burke

James Gordon Burke, 64, of Lachine passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at his home.

James was born on June 18, 1955 in Alpena to the late Gordon and Doris (Aikens) Burke. He worked as a dairy farm ranch hand, merchant seaman, plumber, merchant ship service repair, and offshore oil exploration drill ship. On September 26, 1986, he married Cherie Whitley. James enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and music.

Surviving are his wife, Cherie; four children, Ashley (Brent Hannan) Burke, Michelle (Joe) Ritthaler, Jason Sheldon, Terry Bates Jr.; 9 grandchildren, Abbigayle Sheldon, Braeden Burke, Avery Bates, Trenten Hannan, Michael Ritthaler, Ryan Hannan, Luna Ritthaler, Heather Hannan, Easton Bates; siblings, MarySue Granger, Nancy Ross, Kelly (Dean) Allison, Thomas (Kelly) Burke, Andrew Burke, Robert (Marcia) Burke.

Per James' wish, there will be no funeral service. There will be a memorial at a later date. Cremation arrangements have been handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.
