Howard Harry Scheuner, age 89, formerly of Grand Blanc passed away on January 20, 2021, at Medilodge of Alpena after an extended illness.
Howard was born in Sanborn Township on November 17, 1931, to the late Carl and Wanda (Marek) Scheuner. Howard lived in Alpena for 53 years and then in the lower Michigan cities of Howell and Grand Blanc. He was an active member of these communities and a business owner in the construction industry. He enjoyed baseball, cooking, gardening, skiing, fishing, golf, and tennis. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Shriners International, and The International Union of Operating Engineers. He supported school and community athletic programs, local media, and the fire and police organizations. Howard worked throughout the upper and lower peninsulas of Michigan on an array of municipal, federal, and private sector projects including installation of water, sewer, and gas utilities, road building, and excavation for malls, parking structures, hospitals, and marinas. He developed numerous residential real estate communities including Island View in Alpena and others in the communities of Howell, Brighton, and Fenton, Michigan.
Surviving are his two children, Craig Scheuner and Donalyn Scheuner; two grandchildren, Nicole (Neil) Mousseau and Howard Scheuner, III; great grandchildren, Amber, Danielle, and Nicholas; and brother, Orland Scheuner. Howard was preceded in death by his son, Howard Frederick and eight siblings- Reinhold, Emma Lewis, Bernard, Edward, Alice Komray, Esther Kausch, Gertrude Caldwell, and Leona Karmann.
Friends and family are welcomed to attend a visitation at 10 am and memorial service to begin at 11 am on July 8th at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 727 S. 2nd Ave., Alpena. Inurnment will be at Hope Lutheran Cemetery, Gehrke Road, Sanborn Township. Arrangements are in care of Bannan Funeral Home.
