Helen Timm

Helen Timm, 93, of Alpena passed away at Davison Care Home on Tuesday November 24, 2020. She was the daughter of Joseph and Adina (Liebelt) Timm and was born on December 7, 1926 in Detroit, Michigan.

She married Edward Timm on June 1, 1946. He preceded her in death on June 7, 2012. Also preceding her in death were brother Helmuth Timm, sister Freida Best and brother Emery Timm.

Helen's parents immigrated to America in 1921 and settled in Warren, Michigan.  In Helen’s early adult life, she worked at the Chrysler Tank Plant as an executive secretary. In 1945, her parents moved to Ossineke where they owned and operated a hardware store. Upon marrying Edward, they purchased a farm on Beaver Lake Road, started a dairy operation and in later years raised beef cattle. Helen loved to bake and cook, and many visitors were asked to stay for a meal or they left with baked goods, especially her homemade bread and cinnamon rolls.

Her father recognized her natural talent to play the piano at an early age. He had her take lessons from a variety of teachers in which she learned how to add extra classical notes and transpose. She also had an incredible talent to play from memory as well as hear a song and then play it. Helen’s piano playing talent was shared with over several thousand weddings and funerals. Her greatest joy was playing for church services which she started doing at the age of seven and played until this past February at Huron Shores Fellowship Church.

She is survived by her son Raymond (Laura) of Hubbard Lake, son Irvin (Vicky) of Herron, daughter Susan Torsch (Ben) of Holton, son Chuck (Delynn) of Hubbard Lake, daughter Rita Klavinski (Terry) of Coldwater, and son Edward (Joscelyn) of Haslett; seven grandchildren John Torsch, Marshall (Tammy) Torsch, Jessica Beaudoin (Jeff), Jennifer Werth (Paul), Jason (McKenna) Timm, Janell Domke (Jason), Justin Timm; twelve great-grandchildren: Grace and Andrew Torsch; Kemper and Kiedyn Torsch; Jackson, Julianne and Jayden Beaudoin; Parker, Paisley and Priya Werth; Brynlee and Baylor Domke and sister Dorothy (Eric) Britcher.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements by the Bannan Funeral Home.
