Helen Katherine Kreft, 89, of Alpena passed away Friday, July 12, 2019 at MidMichigan Medical Center – Alpena.
Helen Katherine Wisniewski was born September 10, 1929 in Lapeer County to the late Frank and Catherine (Zmishloney) Wisniewski. On September 9, 1950, she married Leopold Kreft. He preceded her in death on March 27, 1989. Helen and Leo owned and operated Leo’s Meat Market for 23 years. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and was very active with both the church and the school. She was also a member of St. Mary Rosary Society for over 60 years.
Surviving are her six children, Thomas (Sue) Kreft, Rosemary (Roger) Durham, Kathy (Patrick) Zbytowski, Laurie (Thomas) Smith, Ann (Thomas) Elsenheimer, Leo Kreft Jr.; 21 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; and 9 great-great grandchildren.
Mrs. Kreft was preceded in death by her siblings, Pete, Martha, Anthony, Veronica, Ann, Phil, Joseph, and Donald.
Memorial visitation will take place at St. Mary Church of All Saints Parish on Wednesday, July 17, 2019 from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. James Fitzpatrick officiating. Cremation arrangements have been handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church or All Saints School Scholarship Program.
