Gordon Glenn Bartz, 86, of Hubbard Lake passed away Saturday, March 18, 2023 at MyMichigan Medical Center – Alpena.
Gordie was born in Alpena on October 13, 1936, to the late Edmund and Martha (Borke) Bartz. He married Judith Baker on June 27, 1959. He worked at Besser Company for 40 years, retiring in 1996. He was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church – Hubbard Lake, where he served many roles including church treasurer, usher, trustee, and custodian to name a few. He also enjoyed doing stained glass work and assisted in removing and replacing the church stained glass windows from the old building into the new building. Together with his wife, Judy, they enjoyed traveling in their RV during the winter months and were members of the Ramblin Rods Car Club.
Surviving are his wife, Judy; 3 sons, Kevin (Kari) Bartz, Curtis (fiancée, Jacqueline Brace) Bartz, Shawn (Sarah) Bartz; 7 grandchildren, Kourtney (Kyle) Viana, Kyler (Amber) Bartz, Timothy Bartz, Joshua (April) Bartz, Andrew Bartz, Sarah (Damen Schaffer) Bartz, Madison McDonald; 3 great grandchildren, Braylen, Colin, Angela; sister-in-law, Marlene Bartz; several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Bartz was preceded in death by a brother, Roy Bartz and a sister, Carolyn (Joseph) Schrader.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, March 23, 2023, at the Bannan Funeral Home from 2-8 p.m. and will continue Friday, March 24 2023, at St. Paul Lutheran Church – Hubbard Lake from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. with Rev. Joseph Llewellyn officiating.
