Gary Wayne St. Charles Sr.

Gary Wayne St. Charles Sr. passed away Sunday, July 5, 2020 at Turning Brook in Alpena at the age of 78.

Gary was born October 1, 1941 in Charlevoix, Michigan to the late Thomas and Mildred (Holton) St. Charles and grew up in East Jordan, Michigan, graduating from high school in May 1959. From April 1960 until July 1969 he worked for the Michigan State Highway Department on road construction and then went to work for the Alpena County Road Commission as an engineering tech. until his retirement on December 31, 2001. On October 27, 1976, he married Bonnie (Bonita) Homant.  She preceded him in death on November 4, 2018. Following their retirement, they enjoyed spending winters in Bradenton, Florida.

Surviving are his eight children, Gary (Kim) St. Charles, Kathy (Bill) Allen, Joe (Alma) St. Charles, Connie (Gary) Mason, Jennifer (Ken) Wieczorkowski, Michelle (Keith) Wing, Chris St. Charles, Tom (Rose) St. Charles; 30 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.

Mr. St. Charles was preceded in death by two siblings, Thomas St. Charles and Pat Johnson.

Memorial visitation will take place at St. Anne Church of All Saints Parish on Friday from 2 p.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 3 p.m. with Rev. Joseph Muszkiewicz officiating.
