Donald Liske

Donald Otto Liske, 90, Alpena passed away Saturday, August 29, 2020 at Turning Brook surrounded by his loving family.

Donald was born in Herron on July 10, 1930 to the late Otto and Sarah (Suderman) Liske.  On January 19, 1951 he married Shirline Manning.  She preceded him on January 7, 2019.  Don worked at Huron Portland Cement for 34 years and followed he owned and operated S and J Construction for 7 years, all while farming his whole life.  Mr. Liske served as a Gideon for over 60 years; distributed Bibles at schools, hospitals, hotels; spoke at hundreds of churches on behalf of the Gideons; generosity supported Gideons work around the world.  He was active with many church activities including youth trips, mission trips, church building trips to Guiana, Romania, Alaska, South Korea, Mexico, and other locations.  Don will be best remembered by all who knew him for his love for Jesus, God’s Word, and making pancakes for kids and youth.

Surviving 3 children: Sandie and Robb Gibbs, John and Denise Liske, Jim and Cathy Liske; grandchildren, Josh and Jenn Liske, Shelby and Paul Baldwin, Shasta and Jacob Good, Samantha and Adam Vargo, Jered and Jynni Liske, Jay and Shelby Liske, Allison and Colin Boevers; 12 great grandchildren; siblings, Viola Beyer, Richard and Phyllis Liske, Janette Manning, Ferris and Karen Liske; several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Liske was preceded in death by brothers-in-law, Norm Beyer and Glen Manning.

Visitation will take place at the Bannan Funeral Home on Tuesday from 11 – 2 p.m. A private funeral service will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.  The funeral service will be live streamed at www.bannanfuneralhome.com .

Interment: Evergreen Cemetery

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Gideons International or Word of Life Baptist Church.
