Claude Lindy Torsch, 92, of Alpena died Friday, December 27, 2019, at Turning Brook.

C. Lindy was born on October 22, 1927, to the late William and Emma (Sakcriska) Torsch on Beaver Lake Park Road, a strawberry farm. He attended a one-room school, Beaver Lake Elementary, until high school. Lindy played coronet in varsity band and graduated from Alpena High School in 1945.

Lindy was drafted into the United States Army in 1950 and discharged in 1952. He played bugle and did Morse Code with the 979th Field Artillery Division in Germany. After the Army, he ran a dairy farm with his parents. He played violin and coronet with the City Band and was on bowling teams. Lindy met his wife, Dolores Walters, at square dancing class. They married on December 27, 1967. She preceded him in death on April 20, 2010.

Surviving are four sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law, and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his sister, Sally Torsch.

A graveside service will take place at the Spratt Cemetery in the spring.

Arrangements have been handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.
