Caroline Barbara Miller, 86, of Hillman, Michigan passed peacefully at MediLodge of Hillman surrounded by her loving family.
Caroline was born June 29, 1935, to the late Wilhelmina and John Hellner. She was blessed with 8 siblings. She grew up on a farm in Ann Arbor with many memories with family. She married G. Doug Miller on April 24, 1954, in Ann Arbor.
Her family was her love in life. She was blessed with 7 wonderful children. Debbie (David) Allen, Gail Firman, Yvonne(Mona) (John) Petersen, Carleen (Lee) Klein, Steve (Maribeth) Miller, Carl (Julie) Miller, Tina (Steve) Kazyaka. As her children were growing, she was known to join in the backyard baseball games, ice skating on the pond with bonfires with homemade hot cocoa, and Sunday nights with pop and popcorn while watching Walt Disney.
She is also survived by 15 Grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter, and brother, David Hellner.
Her grandchildren remember the bike rides and walks to the Rust Store for ice cream, playing board games, especially Trouble, and her undying love. The highlights of her being a Great Grandma included playing marbles, decorating Easter Eggs, finger painting, and baking the Annual Christmas Cookies.
She enjoyed the family get togethers but especially the bonfires. Her memory will live on with the ritual of singing Neil Diamond’s “Sweet Caroline” Her love of yard sales took us all over the state. She loved to visit her siblings and that was usually a weekend road trip which she loved to travel. Summer trips to Canada fishing brought big smiles and laughs. In the kitchen she was most known for her blueberry buckle, a staple at any family gathering. She loved “playing” puzzles, Yahtzee, dominoes, and solitaire. Her love of Yahtzee led her to her Yahtzee partner and good friend, Alice. Her handmade ornaments are on Christmas trees all over the country. Her laugh and smile were bigger than life. The local kids in the neighborhood referred to her as the Puddin’ gal as she brought them treats of pudding frequently to their home. She had a love of hot fudge sundaes from the local Dairy Queen and her and Sue became great friends. She spent many years befriending the local birds in all the locations she resided.
She was preceded in death by her husband, G. Doug Miller; brothers, Leo, Bill, George Hellner and sisters, Catherine O’Neil Rosemary Donner, Anne Chamberlain, and Elvera Kennard. She was also preceded in death by her son in law, Bill Firman and Kenny Rollf. She also had a grandson, Johnny who awaited her in Heaven.
