Carl Walter Anderson, 80, of Alpena passed away Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
Carl was born on June 7, 1941, in Alpena to the late Lloyd and Leta (Bean) Anderson. He served in the United States Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis. On February 4, 1967, he married Carolyn Evans. Carl worked at Fletcher Paper Company, delivered flowers for Lasting Expressions, and was a member of Brown Bottle Hunting Camp.
Carl was an associate member of F.O.P., longtime member of First United Methodist Church, Optimist Club, Sportsmen’s Club, and Tuesday Morning Coffee Club at JJ’s. He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, was an avid Detroit Tigers and Detroit Red Wings fan.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Carolyn; two children, Jeff (Penelope) Anderson, Julie (Alan) Polaski; five grandchildren, Charlie, Skyla, Evan, Camden, Zachary; brother, Terry Anderson; numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Anderson was preceded in death by his brother, Jerome Anderson; and twin sister, Sally Okhuysen.
Memorial visitation will take place Friday at Bannan Funeral Home from 4-7 p.m. and continue Saturday at First United Methodist Church from 10 a.m. until the memorial service at 11 a.m. with Rev. Seok Nam Lim officiating. Military honors will be accorded him by Alpena VFW Post 2496.
