Bill Kraft

Bill Kraft, 87, of Lachine passed away Monday, June 15, 2020 at his home.

Bill was born on May 4, 1933 in Alpena to the late August and Mary (Marzean) Kraft. He served in the United States Army. On August 11, 1953, he married Jane Manning. She preceded him in death on June 6, 2018. Bill worked at Huron Portland Cement, retiring in 1986. He was a member of Long Rapids First Congregational Church, Alpena V.F.W. Post 2496, and charter member of Long Rapids Fire Department for 40 years.

Surviving are his four children, Dennis (Merly) Kraft, Kurt Kraft, Ronald (Cindy) Kraft, Kay Ann (Kevin) Kinsinger; 5 grandchildren; one great granddaughter; and brother, Clarence (Carol) Kraft.

Mr. Kraft was preceded in death by his siblings, Verna Johnson, Angeline Couture, Irene Gohl, Louis Kraft, Grace Hewitt, Maryann Brass, August Kraft, and David Kraft.

A gathering with light refreshments will take place at the Long Rapids First Congregational Church Fellowship Hall on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, from 4 p.m. until the time of the Thunder Bay Firefighters Association bell ceremony at 6 p.m. Arrangements are being handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.

Interment: Long Rapids Township Cemetery

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the VFW Alpena Post 2496 William Kraft Memorial Fund.
