Betty Jane Kelly, 91, of Alpena passed away Friday, March 4, 2022, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida surrounded by her children and friends.
Betty Jane Garant was born Dec. 4, 1930, in Alpena to the late Archie and Helen (Eggert) Garant. On Sept. 1, 1951, she married Edward Kelly. Together they were married 56 years before his death on May 27, 2008. Betty was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church of All Saints Parish and was also active at First Assembly of God teaching Sunday school and in various ministries there. She was employed for many years at the Alpena Savings Bank. Betty was known for her kind and generous spirit, love of God, and unconditional love and support of family. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and often presented them with handmade and knitted gifts.
Surviving are her daughter, Barbara Beaubien of Alpena; daughter, Carol (Daniel) Desermeau of Oxford ; son, Robert Kelly of Ft. Lauderdale ; five grandchildren, Emily Donnan, Carolyn (Casey) Smith, Charles (Ashley) Beaubien, Jeanne (Bryan) Pope, Joel Desermeau; 13 great-grandchildren, Michael, Aaliyah, Landon, Ashton, Anthony, Bella, River, Reif, Lennon, Noah, Claire, Ella, and Heath; 2 great-great grandchildren; cousin, Bonnie (Tuffy) Cross along with numerous nephews and nieces that she adored.
Betty was preceded in death by loving stepfather, Myron Lamp, granddaughter, Audrey; and grandson, Benjamin; sisters, Norma Jean and Geraldine.
Memorial visitation will take place on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at St. Anne Church of All Saints Parish from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 12 noon with the Rev. Tyler Bischoff officiating. Arrangements have been made by the Bannan Funeral Home.
