Barbara Jean Skaluba, 68, of Alpena passed away Saturday, May 15, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Barbara Jean Mischley was born in Alpena on December 3, 1952 to the late Victor and Elizabeth (LaBarge) Mischley. She worked as a Real Estate Broker for many years, owning Hometown Realty since 1988. She received Realtor of the Year in 1998 and the Humanitarian Award in 1997. Barb’s many other community activities included: NOAA’s Friends of Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary, Besser Museum for Northeast Michigan’s Archer Society, Alpena Area Chamber of Commerce’s Ambassadors, Zonta Club of Alpena, and Friends Together. Whether it was selling 4th of July buttons, USO shows, or raising money for Friends Together, she gave 110% to every organization and event. Barb’s generosity and loyalty to her family and friends will be remembered by all that loved her.
Surviving are her children, Eric Skaluba, Jeanette Skaluba; 3 grandchildren, Samantha Fairbairn, Nicholas Skaluba, Elizabeth Skaluba; 3 siblings, Mary Ann (Dan) Donakowski, Debbie Sherwood, Gregory (Marilyn) Mischley; several nieces and nephews.
Barb was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Leonard and Douglas Mischley.
Memorial visitation will take place at the Bannan Funeral Home on Monday, May 24, 2021 from 10 a.m. until the time of the private memorial service at 2 p.m. with Deacon Michael Roy officiating. For those unable to attend, the memorial service will be live streamed at www.bannanfuneralhome.com
Inurnment: Holy Cross Cemetery
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Friends Together or Yoga4Cats (to facilitate the return to rescue of her 3 beloved cats).
