Arthur Benjamin Leeseberg, 78, of Ossineke passed away Friday, January 29, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving and grateful family.
Art was born in Alpena on March 26, 1942 to the late James and Irene (Eller) Leeseberg. He served in the United States Army as a paratrooper for the 82nd Airborne until his honorable discharge. On July 6, 1962 he married Ann Marie Aube and they raised their family in Art’s childhood home.
Art was a builder by trade and enjoyed “hobby” farming. He took pleasure in meeting and visiting with his pumpkin and corn customers. He especially loved watching the children pick out the perfect pumpkin. He was always interested in people and would strike up a conversation.
Art was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. His family came first and always felt his love. His children and grandchildren have countless stories and memories.
With 51 years sobriety through the AA community; he played an integral role in helping others. He always felt everyone deserved a second chance.
Surviving are his wife, Ann of 58 years; 6 children, James (Rissa) Leeseberg, Jeanne (Joe) Bush, Julie (Brian) Zwolinski, Jackie (Al) Smolinski, Jane (Rick) Meyer, Joanne Wesley (Matt Ewing); 14 grandchildren, Ariana Leeseberg, Averie Leeseberg, Eric (Lauren) Bush, Ben Bush, Nicki Bush, Ryan Diethelm, Elisabeth Zwolinski, Wyatt Zwolinski, Shane (Amanda) Smolinski, Lucas Smolinski, Jacob Smolinski, Aaron Meyer, Adam Meyer, Gavin Wesley; 1 great grandson, Levi Bush; 4 siblings, Carol (Harold) Barr, Joyce (Dale) Domrase, Wayne (Margie) Leeseberg, Phyllis (Ray) Short; several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Leeseberg was preceded in death by infant son, Jeffery; granddaughter, Alexandria Bush; brothers, Richard, George and stepfather, Alfred Nordstrand.
A graveside service and a celebration of Art’s life will take place at a later date. Cremation arrangements have been handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.
Inurnment: St. Catherine Cemetery
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Friendship Room or Shriner’s Hospital for Children.
