Wallace Jeffrey

June 2, 1961 ~ November 7, 2013 (age 52)

June 2, 1961 - November 7, 2013

Jeffrey Jay Wallace, 52, a lifelong resident of Alpena, passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2013.

Jeff was born in Alpena on June 2, 1961, to the late Lynn Alexander and Shirley Frances (Cochrane) Wallace. Jeff married Janet Lynn (Karsnick) Wallace on July 14, 1984. He graduated from Alpena High School in 1979, where he played football and ran track and field. Following his graduation, rather than driving his motorcycle to California, he listened to his sister and attended Alpena Community College for two years. From there, he moved to Sault Ste. Marie, MI where he attended Lake Superior State University. While at LSSU, Jeff studied Business Management, among other things. But most importantly, during this time he met his future wife. Jeff graduated from LSSU in 1983 with a B.S. Degree in Business Administration.

Jeff worked at Besser Company for 26 years, and then at Pathfinder Systems, Inc. for 3 years. Jeff enjoyed his work, and the people he met during his career, very much. He often spoke fondly of the relationships that had developed over his career. Many of these relationships grew from those of co-workers, customers, suppliers, etc. to that of very close friends.

Jeff enjoyed every moment spent with his family and friends. He loved the outdoors - whether he was hunting, riding his Harley, or just going for a walk with his wife and dogs at the family farm. Jeff had a passion for bird hunting, specifically pheasants. He looked forward to his annual travels to North Dakota to hunt pheasants, dog in tow. Jeff also had a passion for motorcycles, whether he was popping wheelies on his "650 Yam" early in life, or traveling to Tomahawk, WI on his Harley Road King later on, he was at peace with the wind blowing through his hair.

Jeff loved the company of others and could make anyone laugh. Jeff loved traveling, seeing new things and meeting new people. But even with all the traveling, he made sure that he was available to coach his children's sports teams and spend quality time with family. Jeff loved spending time with his family, and always was able to find purposeful quality time with close and extended family. Most recently Jeff enjoyed spending his free time with his grandchildren, specifically taking Jackson on "blue tractor rides" and taking naps with Braylon.

Surviving are his wife, Janet; his children, Dylan (Courtney) Wallace and Chelsea Wallace, both of Alpena; two grandsons, Jackson and Braylon Wallace; one sister, Sue (Ron) Rosko of Marshall, MI; two brothers, Robert (Deltha) Wallace of Bay City, MI and Kendall (Gail) Wallace, of Duluth, MN; as well as many nieces, nephews, and in-laws. Preceding him in death were his parents, Lynn Alexander and Shirley Frances (Cochrane) Wallace, and one of his closest friends, his dog, Jessie.

Visitation will be held at the Bannan Funeral Home on Monday from 12-8 p.m., and will continue Tuesday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. with Fr. Gerald Okoli presiding.

Interment will be at King Settlement Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family, and will then be given to a charity to be determined in Jeff's name.
