Rodney Michael Rondeau, 86, of Alpena passed away Monday, September 23, 2019, at his home.
Rodney was born on July 16, 1933, in Alpena to the late Russell and Beulah (Montie) Rondeau. He served in the United States Coast Guard for 3 years. On November 13, 1970, he married Beryl (Amo) Long. Rodney worked as a railroad locomotive engineer for 36 years, retiring in 1993. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, casino trips, hunting camp, and pontoon riding. Rodney had an ongoing bet with his wife on Nascar. He also enjoyed traveling to Canada and the cruises to Mexico and Hawaii.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Beryl; 7 children, Michael (Kelly) Rondeau, Cheryl Rondeau, Joy (Randy) Royer, Douglas (Rose) Rondeau, Lisa (Dale) Hildebrand, Marti Diamond, Frank (Marlene) Long; 19 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Beverly Kindt, Sybil (Elmer) Banks and brother-in-law, John Conway.
Mr. Rondeau was preceded in death by great-grandson, Lawrence LaFave; 2 sisters, Linda Kelly and Sylvia Conway.
Memorial visitation will take place on Friday at Bannan Funeral Home from 10 a.m. until the memorial service at 12 p.m. with Rev. Leslie Nye officiating. Military honors will be accorded him by Alpena V.F.W. Post 2496.
