"Pastor Jack" John Jay Williams

September 6, 1941 ~ April 20, 2018 (age 76)

Pastor Jack Williams, 76, of Lachine, passed away Friday, April 20, 2018 at his home.

John Jay Williams was born in Farmington Hills on September 6, 1941 to the late Gerald and Mary (Mohr) Williams and married Donna Stoddard on January 19, 1973.  Jack worked as a police officer for the Pontiac and Farmington Hills departments before moving to the Alpena area in 1974.  He was ordained in the Assemblies of God Michigan District and pastored at the Beaver Lake Community Church for 38 ½ years until his retirement in 2012.  Following his retirement, Pastor Jack was known for his Pickin-for-People ministry raising money for numerous food pantries.  In 2016, Pastor Jack began serving Huron Shores Fellowship until his “graduation”.  Jack served on numerous community organizations, with the one closest to his heart has been serving as chaplain for Alpena County Sheriff’s Department.

Surviving are his wife Donna; four children, Gretchen (Fiancé Jason Pardieke) Williams, Mary (Tim) Stoinski, John (Heather) Williams, Heidi Williams; 16 grandchildren; sister Elva (Bill) Barnes; several nieces and nephews.

Pastor Jack was preceded in death by brother, Gerald Williams; 2 half-sisters, Geraldine Dundas and Dorothy Snyder-Watson.

Memorial visitation will take place at Huron Shores Fellowship on Saturday, April 28, 2018 from 10 a.m. until time of the memorial service at 1 p.m. Funeral arrangements have by handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.
