Owen E. “Mick” Keegan, 80, of Hillman passed away from declining health on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Medilodge – Hillman.
Owen Edgar Keegan was born in Rust Township on March 16, 1938 to the late Charles and M. Isabelle (Klein) Keegan and married Patricia Palmer on August 1, 1959. Mick was a long-time member of St. John Lutheran Church where he served as an elder and trustee for many years. He was a respected 5th generation carpenter. Mick served on numerous community boards, including the Hillman Fire Department, Montmorency County Fair Board, Brush Creek Mill Board, Hillman Community Center Building and a 4-H woodworking leader. He and Pat were a respected member of the Hillman community generously volunteering in the community. He will be greatly missed by many.
Surviving are his wife, Pat; 5 children, Ann (Rev. Wesley) Gillaspie, Patrick (Lynette) Keegan, Andy Keegan, Charlie Keegan, Mike (Theresa) Keegan; 12 grandchildren, Erik (Hannah) Gillaspie, David (Jocelyn) Gillaspie, Zoya Keegan, Dakota (Jessica) Keegan, Kory (Daisi) Keegan, Brady (Savanah) Keegan, McKenzie Keegan, Kelsey Keegan, Spencer Keegan, Mark Underwood, Kristen Hill, Katelyn Garren; several great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Joan (Don) LaFleche, Norma Gibes; brother-in-law, Kenneth Luebke; several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Keegan was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Kathy Keegan; infant brother, sister, Marion Luebke and brother-in-law, Ted Gibes.
Memorial visitation will take place on Tuesday at the Bannan Funeral Home in Hillman from 2-8 p.m. and will continue Wednesday at St. John Lutheran Church in Royston from 10 a.m. until time the memorial service at 11 a.m. with Rev. Jason Mandley and Rev. Wesley Gillaspie officiating.
