Orville James MacKenzie, 90, of Alpena passed away Monday, February 25, 2019, at his home.
Orville was born September 17, 1928 in Alpena to the late Orville and Fleta (Bates) MacKenzie. On April 15, 1950 he married Shirley Schryer. Orville served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked at Besser Company for 43 years. Orville volunteered as a fireman for Alpena Township Northside Department and the hospital, driving the van. He was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and attending his grandchildren’s sports events.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley; three sons, Mike (Christine) MacKenzie, Scott MacKenzie, Kevin (Lyn) MacKenzie; 5 grandchildren, Jamie (Troy) Miller, Samantha (Tyler) Jones, Eric (Megan) MacKenzie, Brad (Kathy) MacKenzie, C.J. (Kelsey) MacKenzie; 9 great grandchildren, Maryn, Mattsen, Lily, Tysen, Haddie, Max, Cooper, Porter, Marlowe; and sister, Carol (David) LaLonde.
Mr. MacKenzie was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Lori MacKenzie; and brother, Harley MacKenzie.
Visitation will be Friday at Bannan Funeral Home from 2 p.m. until the funeral service at 7 p.m. with Rev. James Fitzpatrick officiating. Military honors will be accorded him at 5 p.m. by Alpena V.F.W. Post 2496.
