Margeret Evelyn (Shell) Martinson

May 1, 1922 ~ May 2, 2018 (age 96)

Margaret (Shell) Martinson, formerly of Alpena and Lost Lake Woods, passed away Wednesday May 2, 2018, one day after her 96th birthday in Ohio.

Margaret Evelyn Shell was born May 1, 1922 to James and Rhoda (Feick) Shell and married William Martinson on February 6, 1943. He preceded her in death on August 22, 2002. Margaret will be most remembered for her love of her family and her strong desire for independence. Prior to her husband’s death, Margaret and Bill were known as "snow birds " traveling from Lost Lake Woods to Florida for many years. Margaret enjoyed golfing, winning several tournaments at both Alpena Golf Course and Lost Lake Woods Club. Together, she and Bill not only enjoyed golfing, but also "shook up" many dance floors with their wonderful dance routines.

Mourning her loss are her daughter Judi and Charles Fox; grandson, Todd and Veronica Fox; 4 great grandchildren, Lauren and Jenna Fox, Abigail and Nathan McLaughlin; sister-in-law, Jessie Shell; and several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Alison Bloom-Storey, who was thought of by Margaret as a second daughter.

Mrs. Martinson was preceded in death by her granddaughter Amy McLaughlin; and brother, Ralph Shell.

A life time member of the First Congregational Church of Alpena, and active in their ladies’ groups, Margaret's family wishes any memorial in memory of Margaret be made to either the First Congregational Church of Alpena or PROMEDICA Hospice of Sylvania, Ohio.

There will be a private family grave side service at Grace Lutheran Cemetery in Alpena.
