Lavina Margaret Brown, 97, of Alpena, Michigan passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 24, 2019.
Lavina was born September 29, 1921 to the late Charles and Margaret (Baumgart) Becker and had spent her entire life in the Alpena area. On October 4, 1952 she married Watson Brown who preceded her in death on October 31, 1984. Lavina raised a fine vegetable garden for many years, canning and freezing for winter use. Many Sundays she cooked a meal for family to come over and enjoy.
Lavina was active in many clubs over the years. Silver City Farm Bureau, TOPS 1349, and Aid By The Dozen. She loved the time spent with the Alpena Eagles Ladies Auxiliary #1241, where she served as Outside Guard, Inside Guard, Chaplain, and Trustee.
Surviving are her daughter, Maryann (John) Niedbala; Godchild, Carol Kennedy; grandchildren, Mike (Bev) Cousineau, Travis (Holly) Cousineau, Chad Cousineau, Lori Smith, Todd (Stacy Edgar) Becker, Brian Becker; 9 great grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; brother, Charles (Cleta) Becker; and many special nieces and nephews who have sent numerous cards and letters that she has enjoyed; and special lifelong friend, Clarise Grzenkowicz.
Preceding her in death was a son, Russell Becker; sisters, Shirley (Harry) Gerszewski, Charlotte (Don) Cramer; also, one infant great granddaughter.
A memorial service will be held May 11, 2019 at the Alpena Eagles Club on M-32 West, Alpena, Michigan at 2 p.m. with Rev. Scott Pfeiffer officiating. Arrangements have been handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.
