Fern Lucille Ernest, 97, of Hubbard Lake passed away Monday, August 27, 2018, at MidMichigan Medical Center – Alpena.
Fern Lucille Fetterman was born March 25, 1921, in Elwood City, Pennsylvania to the late Clarence and Iva (Hartman) Fetterman. Fern moved to Trenton, Michigan in 1935. On September 6, 1941, she married Mark Ernest. He preceded her in death in May 1987. She was a city girl married to a farmer. Fern was an insurance agent before being a previous co-owner of Ernest Oil Company. She was a member of Hubbard Lake Sportsmen Club, Hubbard Lake Ladies Group, Hubbard Lake Community Association, and Rebeccah Lodge. Fern was very independent and was still driving five days before she died. She loved watching sports, Judge Judy, and Blue Bloods.
Surviving are her daughter, Sheryl (David) Molstead; she was known as “Pinky” to her grandchildren, Matthew (Dr. Belinda) LeBlanc, Christopher LeBlanc (Wayne Parks); great grandchildren, Yvette LeBlanc, Derrick LeBlanc; and son-in-law, Lon LeBlanc.
Mrs. Ernest was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda LeBlanc; infant granddaughter, LeAnn LeBlanc; brothers, Robert Fetterman, Thomas Fetterman; and sister, Helen Schimelfenig.
A private service will take place. Arrangements have been handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.
